My first blog rant
oh man this is just brilliant.. I won't spoil it with an intro:
---
Alright, in other news, I'm so broke right now that I'm taking on some freelance work and need to put Waterlollies aside for a week or two. It's just not funny anymore and we're talking about survival now.
Speaking of customer service (were we?), some random thing that happened:
I needed to buy some button cell batteries for my favourite LED light the other day. I went to the shop and the guy said "$8.75 each". They are tiny batteries and I needed 4 of them, so I said STFU to him and walked off..
As expected, it took me about two seconds to find a site that sells micro batteries in bulk. Meritline.com had exactly what I wanted so I ordered a card of 20 batteries for $5.50. Got to the checkout and how much do you reckon for shipping from the US to Australia?
$62.
I emailed them asking if it was a mistake. They replied saying 'unfortunately, we agree that shipping to your location is a little high' and then 'oh by the way, we only accept wire transfer for international orders'.
I fired back a terse reply and went back to Google.
The next micro battery site in the list was Microbattery.com.
Inside 4 minutes, I'd bought 25 batteries for $9.90. Shipping was $2.95. Paid with Paypal.
Yaye!
Anyway, the reason I'm telling you all this is because I told Meritline I'd blog it and they didn't give a shit, so this is my little "fkyu" to them. So if you're outside the US, don't buy online from Meritline.com
As if you would anyway... their international shipping price alone slams the door in your face, not to mention their narrow, archaic payment policy.
On the other hand, I highly recommend Microbattery.com because I got exactly what I wanted, zero fuss, all payment options available and I didn't need to go looking for the 'Contact Us' link at all (though it might be worth doing that to pass on some positive feedback).
It was my birthday the other day! Give me gifts please, thankyou (preferably gifts that I can swap for food outside my house).

God damn that sucks ass adam.
I keep telling you to put up a paypal button, get some donations in, i'm sure that for every person who buys a $20 shirt, thers 10 people who'd donate $5 for no reason, other than loving you. =D
I've never heard of any of those shipping companies, but i'll scribble them down somewhere, with a not of which ones to use. =D
Yeah, you should setup a little donation button just to be ready when altruism comes along. I personally love giving talented people money.
Happy belated birthday from a fan! Alas no gifts for you because I am broke too! D:
I'l press adSense buttons on your site... maybe that will help you with your money problem )))
Hey I know a way you can make some extra money. Make a DVD of Bitey! OMG I would LOVE TO BUY THAT! Ive seen other animation sites do it and it works. Might be worth a shot.
Dont worry, Adam, get that freelance work done. I wont give you a girft to swap for food, i will send you food directly. How does a giant pizza sound? It will be crushed due to the fact im getting it from meritline.com and i can only afford a tiny package. Aaand it may be a tiny bit cold, and i may have takena bite out of it. But two pieces is sure to feed your family.
although your blog was a giant rant :P you still entertained me with a fantastic panda eating (the eating was my face bit) and once again, a useful site :D
- forgotten my name, im sure it's here somewhere
The vid was hysterical!
Bummer about being broke. As a student I totally understand!
Who would have thought it would be such a mission to get batteries...?
Keep up the brilliant work by the way! I love it!
sweet panda :)
and thx for the hint bout ordering batteries ;)
greetz from europe,
Zue.
I know you said you would only make a Brackenwood DVD with about 8 episodes
But seriously- Ween's video, Animotd and all Brackenwood would make a DVD worthy of $20 bucks at least - I would buy 3 if need be- and donate, if only you had a paypal button
www.thesecret.tv - the secret to money and success
Just put-up a PayPal button. Some of us have too many t-shirts.
You do great work and the world would be duller without you. You take care of yourself okay?
OK guys, after all the blog, forum and email suggestions, I've finally got it through my thick head that it might indeed benefit me to put up a Paypal button, so thanks everyone for all the support.
I'll do the button thing this weekend, but I'd also like to put together some kinda giveaway thing - perhaps a small Brackenwood gift or something in return for any donations.
I'll talk about it in my next post. Thanks again!
-Adam
great idea!
you sound like they paid you to endorse them.
hehe
I'd love to somehow provide you with a delicious meal, however, I do not believe it would be particularly wise or even possible to do so internationally. So, instead, I’ll buy a t-shirt.
I hope you have a great Birthday!
Happy belated Birthday!!
I know how you feel about international shipping...and I'm sorry you must get a job. Bummer.
I'm going to buy two Bitey shirts right now, so hopefully you could buy food or summat. I live in the USA so I can't afford to send a package!! =P
Keep up the good work! You are my favorite flash artist!
hey adam,
i tried to buy a shirt several times but because im in america it wont accept my funds and the same now with the donation
looking around your site it looks to me that this is the only way to contact you
well anyway keep up the good work!
one question.
why arent u at pixar and making big money, with ur talent?
after knowing a little bit of the story , I think you shouldnt be releasing it as a 1/3 part of a movie .you told you were going to make a long version of the film yuyu for some competition . did you make it? you havent updated 'Brackenwood' site in a long time . (just in case you forgot ) Keep up the good work . Im sure you will earn some money after putting the 'make a donation' button .
quote:did you make it? you havent updated 'Brackenwood' site in a long time . (just in case you forgot )
yep, he's completely forgotten about Brackenwood :P

Please update, anything is good, a screenshot, anything. I think others would agree with me.
absolutely =)
adam,
I hope things are going fine to you.
Keep your motivation! I am sure your work inspire millions of people.
Greetings from Brazil!
best,
Guilherme
hey,
ok this is out of the blue but i would definately help you, i can't send you money cause i'm broke too. but i've got stuff in my cupboard and i'm a great betty crocker and i can send you homemade cookies, baklava (if you don't know look it up on google it's the best) hot cocoa, i'm sure i can get some meat in there some how like jerky or something. it's just i've watched your shorts from the very first one and i love the style the music and such it's beautiful. so i want to help just send me an email to let me know! kitty_pink_21@yahoo.com by the way i asked you a long long time ago if you were going to make a cd of the music and you said keep an eye out for it on the site, did i miss it? anyways best of wishes
Awesome, you live in Ashfield? That's like 10 minutes from where I live, Strathfield. Postage from the US drives me crazy too. There's so much awesome stuff to be bought online but once you do the exchange rate plus the very expensive postage it costs a bomb.
getting a few offers here adam ;)
Are you still alive Adam? : (
Hi Adam,
I am interested in licensing some fo your animations for an ambient media platform in Australia.
Please email me if you are interested or would liek to know more. peter@pulsetv.tv . . .
all the best,
peter.
...where art thou!!
I just recently stumbled upon your work, and I'm hooked. I'll be avidly awaiting the next installment ^v^.
Also, I made a prowlie (prowlie?) icon, I hope you don't mind- you are duly credited in the comment section.
an idea...
why not sell the Brackenwood episodes to iTunes or something? Honestly, lots of people love them, and iTunes would pay you pretty well for it, i think. jsut an idea, since i have no idea how much they would pay you or if you would get money each time someone downloaded an episode, but it might help.
Hey,
I really want to get better at Flash animation. I want to learn and the level that you are at is as good as it gets!
So I have a question for you: How did you get this good? Years of experiance? A fantastic class? A fantastic book?
Thank you, your work is amazing,
Michelle
Adam sorry to hear that you are hard up at the moment your work is awesome. Can you please contact me ( soshann@gmail.com ) regarding some work? I have exhausted every other avenue of approach to getting in contact with you that I can think of. Thanks Sean
i really have nothing to say but that i love your work and thats all.
OMG OMG OMG!! ur finally back! im so happy i fell like im gonna cry! :D
