Revised Brackenwood forum membership conditions
Due to the invasion of spambots, the Brackenwood forum has implemented a two-step filtering process to separate the spam from the humans. Here are those two steps:
ONE:
All new registrations require manual approval by Admin. This daily approval process can take anywhere from 1 - 12 hours (depending on when Admin checks).
TWO:
Believe it or not, spambots have been known to get through the manual approval process, so as a secondary filter, all new members may only make their first post in the "New to Brackenwood?" thread.
Use the opportunity to post a self-introduction. Once you have a post-count of 1, you are set free onto the rest of the board.
While you're waiting to be approved, it's possible for you to speed up the process by proving you're a human (and not a spambot). Here are some ways to do that, while you wait:
- fill in your member profile, such as interests, signature, etc.
- add a custom avatar
- choose a member name that looks human.. for example, the following member names look like people made them:
- Vector
- TheEYE
- Yembles
- Thanatos
However, these names look like spambots:
- DarQssv
- SylviaHH
- wwwbestonlinephrmcyinfo
- teendateusa
- Finally, don't use an email address from dodgy looking domains, such as:
- workfromhomenow.biz
- cheappills.info
- eliminatedebt.com
and avoid the following domains, which are the two most notorious spambot domains:
- web.de
- mail.ru
