Hi

I have just upgraded my webhotel and I want to start making a website, that is; simple, compatible and user friendly. The goal of my website is to post text, pictures and flash animations. So nothing too advanced, I just only want a system that makes it possible to add, edit and delete content with ease without having to get lost in tons of code.

I was thinking about start using a CMS (Content Management System). Some people already have recommended me following CMS': ModX, Joomla, Wordpress and Movabletype. I don't know which one to choose. I can't do any programming and I want to concentrate on doing what I am best at - the content (animations, pics and text).

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

You wouldn't think that its too advanced, but any kind of decent CMS is really quite advanced.  Custom-made ones are complicated to make, and if you don't code them yourself, you probably won't get someone to do it for you.  I haven't personally used any available today than the one I've been building the last four years, but as long as your web space supports PHP and allows you to create a MySQL database, any of the freely available ones should work.  I would suggest choosing the one with the layout you like most, since I would imagine they all generally have the same capabilities.  I think Wordpress may be the most popular at the moment, and has a mod called Comicpress that a lot of webcomics use.

Some basic knowledge of any HTML and CSS would be helpful for customizing whatever you choosel, and there is W3Schools for that.
