Hi! First post, for at least a long time. I was registered here on the forums a few years ago as cobex. Does NOOB, humbleego etc still come on here?

Anyway, I kept on animating for a few years, I'm nearly 19 ( I was 14/15 when I first came to this site) and looking to start a diploma of digital media and animation. I didn't finish my HSC (I moved to Germany..I am coming home in a few months though), but I have a TAFE certificate so the schools will consider my application, I just need to submit a portfolio, and have an interview. First question, is there any reputable schools in Sydney that anyone can recommend? Second, what should my portfolio look like? It doesn't have to be just an animation, it can be anything artistic, to show that I am creative. I have 6 months to draw my ass off, so would be nice to have something to impress the people who want to consider me to be able to attend their school.

If anyone has been to an animation school and started a diploma, please tell me what it was like. I want to get into either 3D animation, 3D modeling, concept art, special effects, gaming industry, whatever job i can land from this, I would probably go on to do my bachelor degree when I finished the diploma, is this this the right course for me to do?

Cheers, and happy to see this forum still alive.

Hey Alpha, sorry you didn't get a quick response but I guess that means nobody has the answer to your question. I know a few people who went to animation college up in Brisbane back in the 90s (!) but even today I don't know of any animation schools or courses in Sydney - which is certainly not to say there aren't any.. it's just that I'm not aware of any. Sorry I can't help you, but at the end of the day, it's your personal commitment that counts.. you can find good guidance online, in the absence of a teacher/mentor.

I go to the Academy of Interactive Entertainment down in Canberra starting my course to get to the Advanced Diploma in 3D, and Im fairly sure they have newly opened up a campus in Sydney, so if you're really into 3D it's worth checking out.
