I don't think the WDA is doing too well lately. Im not sure what it needs, but i have a feeling people have stopped entering because they take it for granted.  They don't enter because they assume they will get around to the one next week...

thats the problem with the weekly stuff, its plain impossible i think to enter every week with something new, many of us are busy
i would love to enter but i have so much to do...i think others may think the same...
i think the 2 weeks, with no participiant 3 weeks, many participiants, one week less system (which i mentioned before) is a good way to acknowledge many interest and punishes bad participation (plus by extending the deadline you offer the people more time to work on something, even those that are a bit more busy)
but thats just my opinion...

my biggest thing with if ill participate in a WDA is if it will test my ability to create something that i wouldnt normally create. This from creatures to enviornments. What i want out of a WDA if im participating is in some way benificial in a concepting as if it were an employer. Conceptions with a free range of expression. Indeed this isnt a buisness so you wouldnt get bitched out by the employer but when im motivated in a activity its beacuse its being set up with proper instructions on what is to be created and judged on that. As i find it the main idea of the design are as important as the secondaries that are givin in a design. For instance Create a apocolypic setting ... incorperate 3 bandits stealing goods. Also the bandits must look like there in a gang ... thigns of the such excite me and motivate me more in participating.

i think extending deadlines like that based on people participating or not kinda of encourages laziness or people expecting deadlines being extended.
and  asking for wda's that challenge or not wont make any difference.  every idea can be a challenge, it is you challenging yourself on how you decide to take the idea. i think the simplest ideas are the hardest to do and the most challenging.  it might seem boring or dull or maybe done before but its about reinventing and getting a chance to experiment and learn.  also being too specific with ideas like what needs to be in the scene is kind of limiting in a way...i personally enjoy the more  vague ones cause it gives more room to stretch the brushes and see what someone else sees.

there has to be a way to have strict rules that everyone can adhere to and increase participation.
the badass illustrations from the old forum used to have lots of participation and the cool tags were awesome.
the animation challenges? the coveted green names and all that.
guess everyone's too busy to play host?

Just for everyone's information regarding the banner awards.... we are in the process of exploring new options for awards, so please bear with us until we make some decisions. I promise it will be worth the wait!  Bigfoot

Character line-up in stages. First braking down basic shapes then to their final lines, and finally to colour. This would be an extensive WDA though and perhaps better off as another type of event

I'm finally back and able to frequent Brackenwood again! However...it looks like the WDA section is locked or falling behind or something. WDA isn't being cancelled, is it?

Darn  Sad. WDA is so much fun, even if you can't submit an entry, I love stopping in to see what other people are doing with the topic.
