WDA #37 - Blue

Thanks to Espen for letting me run the WDA as long as he is busy.


This week's topic is "blue".


Everything is allowed as long as it has something to do with blue.
No more informations will be added, just be creative and post it.
Feel free to post WIPs if u want critique or feedback!

The WDA will be 2 weeks with the option of another week if requested...since last WDA was with a ridiculous amount of entries...




The pictures format can maximum be 1000x1000 or less.

when the deadline is over, a vote will be raised , for you to vote for your favorite entry, I'm not the judge here, everyone is.

If you have several entries its essential to CLEARLY DESIGNATE YOUR FINAL.

Please save your entry as, for example. "tree_wda24.jpg"don't use old drawings, and use more then 15 minutes on the picture. Wink.

And with that I'm telling you to have fun, and get inspired to create the best illustration you can!

nice one plastic, looks a bit like a sea star, maybe you go into that direction ^^

and another note just to make things clear: the wda is not exactly about the color blue...nothing more to be said

hey mate, glad to see you do alot of things but it would be nice if you keep them in one post and update that post and try not to double post

btw did u have some thoughts behind your designs? why dont tell us i like the way youre heading, keep it up

Yeah ok, I will prevent myself from doing any double posts in the future. I'm trying to capture the feeling "blue", which to me feels like a depressed/lonely/"down" emotion. My first pic, even though I like the pic itself, portrays more something of a "purple" emotion (I associate purple with hunger/famine) because it looks like he is coming to eat you. The second one portrays the emotion okay imho (even though some of my friends don't agree), but the composition and stance feel too static. The last one conveys the emotion well, as well, and the "stance" just feels a lot better to me.

New image, I think this one and my previous one are going to be my final designs.



Some background story: these "indian" (as in native-american) looking creatures are creatures born of depression. They wander round feeding off shadows. When you set eyes on them, you get depressed immediately, and see the world as if it was a depressing nightmare. You don't feel fear or pain, just pure misery. This effect is more intense when the creature also looks at you, hence the more exaggerated background in the second pic.

i will close it now..only 3 entries, i would have liked to participate too but time was too close, two portfolio deadlines within 8 days :S
for every wda with weak participation(maybe 3 or less entries) the next one will be extended for a week, for every wda with really good participation(maybe more than 5 entries) the next one will be shortened one week up to at least one week
this means next weeks wda is at least 3 weeks long ^^

hope this is okay for you guys, if somebody doesnt want that new rule, write it in the discussion thread

anyways the wda will be closed now
