It depends on what I'm animating.

Dark/Gloomy places : Killswitch Engage

Spring/Open Areas : The Decemberists

Funny Animations : Classical

My music taste varies on what I'm doing and the mood I'm in.

It depends on the mood for me, as well.

Although I have to say that most of the time, I don't listen to music while animating. Only sometimes, when it's really important that I keep a particular mood in mind.

I have a folder of musics from the newgrounds audio portal, but lately I have instead been listening to a team fortress 2 podcast called control point. I'm finding it easier to work to the sound of talking than music.

Personally, I disagree with that response. It totally depends on the person. Some people will become more productive or in the zone when they listen to music. It can help set a mood to be channeled into the animation, or put you in a focused and trance-like state. For other people, it can be distracting and/or bug the shit out of them. Smiley

I agree with Vector (Hey Bud!)

To me It depends on both the person and the music.

Sometimes I listen to music sometimes I don't. Heck sometimes I have my headphones on for hours with no music on.  Tongue

Having music with great loops will get you into an almost robotic form of working. In a book that I read by Joscelyn Godwin Harmonies of Heaven and Earth

It states and I agree that music synchronizes the mind, soul and body. It has also been studied that employees work more harmonious and quicker when given the privileged to listen to music in the work place.

Hope that helps!

This is offtopic but too bad I'm the one making music. Can't really listen to anything then... Unless for replicating effects and sounds or for inspiration. Smiley
