Who uses it? Audacity is an audio recording/editing program that you can get for free at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/I suggest checking a Help page if you're confused on how to use it at first. I love it. I can record from my microphone or from the computer itself. Record skype conversations, youtube/myspace music, sound clips, you name it. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sound recording/editing program to use for their music or videos. |

I have it, but I use it mainly to cut up songs, which I then sample in a different music program. I lost my recording drive on my computer quite some time ago, so I'm at a loss to record any real music. I just stick to the instruments Fruity Loops provides  . |

I use it, but there a few upsets with it. Like you can't play a track and record one at the same time in the one window.

Audacity is a great program for audio editing. It's free. It's relatively small. However, the most recent version I played with, wouldn't export mp3's! NOOO! ... Anyway, I can't say that I do enough audio editing to have a specific preference. I did have (however infrequently I used it) a fancy Sony audio editor with outputs of much higher quality, but that was the only difference to Audacity.

Yeah. The audacity mp3 codec is broken. But you can just download switch and use that to turn the wavs into mp3s or whatever else grabs your fancy. |
