Alright, so i thought I would join in on the fun and post some stuff to get some feedback.

I've only recently started working in Photoshop so be patient and I'll post some more stuff, but for now, here's a little face study i did.

It's just a rough though.  I'll post the final when I finish.

That's pretty good man! The head as a really cool overall shape, and the hair has a very three dimensional feel. It's obvious too, that you've studied profiles before.

You said you're lookin for feedback so I'm hoping that includes constructive criticism! If not, my bad sorry.

I noticed some things in the design of the profile that are pretty minor but can make a big difference.

The skull shape where the head meets hair isn't round.

The nose is really far back in the face, and pulling it out will fix up the anatomy and make for a better silhouette.

The bottom lip is just kinda strange and almost looks like his tongue sticking out.

The hairline is a bit off

The back of the skull could also be brought in a bit to make the ear stick out more and give it a better silhouette.

I also noticed fixed the parallel lines of the brow ridge and nose, the symmetry in the neck, and just straightened and curved some lines more for design purposes.

Here's my drawover.

And a side by side of the silhouettes. Before on the left, after on the right.

Subtle differences, but the one on the right is more pleasing to the eye and registers in your mind as a head easier.

I hope I helped some!

Wow thanks a lot Deuce!  That's really helpful and I can tell you've studied a lot.  This was just a practice really.  It's been so long since I've used any sort of pixel program, and it's about time I got Photoshop up and running instead of dedicating most time to Flash instead.

But your draw over really helps a lot.  I'll keep it in mind.  I'll admit I didn't use a reference for this piece, it was merely straight out of my head.  I noticed some things were quite off, but I figured they weren't too noticeable, but thanks for pointing them out!

Here's another study.  Second one of this year with Photoshop.

Self Portrait, roughly 2 hours.

looks cool man! really good for your first ps studies Wink
something thats bothering me is that your studies are hovering in the middle of the pic, try to play a bit with backgrounds and compositions, plus here and there you could strengthen the contrast a tiny bit...
anyways those are great studies...keep it up man

Alright, here's my caricature series.  I have 10 total all lined up.

2 finished, 8 left.

Here's the first of the series:

Emily

Chris

Others will come soon, I've got a week to finish them all.  Roughly 2 hours each.

@ Max.  I know the backgrounds are deprived, but I'll get into actual paintings and stuff after this series.  Wink  Promise!

Not bad. The nose looks really good! Any chance you could post a picture of your reference when you post new caricature?

Here's a little paint I did, probably under an hour.

Inspired by The Decemberists since that's who I was listening to at the time.  The Hazards of Love is by far one of their best albums.  Incredible.  My art doesn't compare to their talent...  argh!

In the picture is Colin Meloy, singer/songwriter for The Decemberists and behind him is the intro lyrics.

Mother I can hear your foot-fall now
Soft disturbance in the dead-fall how
It proceeds you like a black smoke pall
Still the wanting comes in waves
And you delivered me from danger then
Pulled my cradle from the reedy glen
Swore to save me from the world of men
Still the wanting comes in waves

=D Great stuff brettamatowski! I especially like your caricatures.

This can also be a matter of taste, but
I don't think it's nesesairy to paint every single hairstrand.Less is more here IMO
especially when the faces are stylised like that too. If you have some thick hairstrains grouped together as a shape  as well as other thin ones It'l lead to a more interesting contrast.

Keep up the great work!

Keep it up. Women are always a good subject to study and learn. As long as there are men to admire a womens body you will always have a following.
