This We'll Defend! ESSAYONS!

« on: August 12, 2009, 06:13:48 AM »

Thunder rolling across the landscape
tells of the impending storm,
the sky already a suffocating gray
that steals away the suns rays from view,
with a dreary boreal wind
that crawls slowly by.
The rain cuts like frozen blades
soaking straight to the core.
Oppressive gloom's tendrils
siphon the life from all that they touch
leaving riven shells of what once was.
Oh! Light of Heaven cast this hell
back to the abyss, rend this misery
rend it asunder and thrust it down to
that Stygian pit.
Draw thine eyes with favor on this land.
Draw thine eyes to see,
a child shivering against the cold,
her unshod feet calloused and ruddy.
A sullied face streaked with lines
from years of solitary sorrow.
Will she make it through the night,
to struggle for meager hope?
or will her soul be freed,
from pain, from anguish,
her small body lain broken
in the earth?
Oh! Grace of Heaven show
your mercy on this child,
welcome her fully into your loving arms.
Peace be with her until the end of time.
