OK, I'm new here, haven't read diddley. But I thought I'd throw this out at you. In graduate school, I had the great opportunity to study North Indian music with the venerable master Pandit Pranath (that's what his name means, more or less, "venerable master".) In North Indain music they use a system of syllables that is directly translatable into Western solfege (which of course are the syllables of Sarus.) He made a statement in class one day that went something like this (translated from the Indian syllables):

"I don't know if there is something intrinsic to the tones, or if this just reflects what my teacher taught me. But the tones mean something. Do is God. Re is the earth. Mi is the wind. Fa is the sea. Sol is sureness. La is aspiration. Ti is longing."

Wow. That has influenced how I've heard music since then. Could it influence Sarus (or Ro?)
