Okay, here you post the best, most thrilling, enchanting or outright ridiculous piece of animation you've seen all day. You may post one a day, and comment on other people's films.
Here is the original thread on the old forums: Link

Here's how to embed a flash video in your posts (Youtube, Vimeo, etc):
Quote from: Markham
The Flash tag:
[ flash=width,height]url of flash file[ /flash]

So take from the embed code that Youtube/Vimeo gives you:
<object width="400" height="300">
<param name="movie" value="VERY_LONG_URL" />

The height/width vary on Vimeo. 320x240 is common on Youtube.

-------------------------

I just watched MC Bess' Showreel
I forgot the name of the colourfull 3D animation that's shown, I watched it and liked it allot.

that was fucking brilliant gah!
I was absolutely riveted from start to finish.. well OK when the Frederator ad came on at the end I shut the window, but jeez, the voice acting, animation, backgrounds and effects were just great. Not to mention the story. That's a 2004 movie though.. what are these guys up to now? Hope they're doing more.

I really think that embedding video in the post itself is a lot better than just posting a link to the film.  It's more... visually enticing, ya know? And better for lazy people. Smiley

The instructions for how to embed video are in the updated first post of this thread.

I'll start off by posting a recently-made Russian film that I added English subtitles to (the Youtube user AxmxZ helped with some phrases).  It's based on the novel "Goodbye, Ravine" by Konstantin Sergiyenko, which follows a community of homeless dogs who live in a ravine which is gradually being surrounded by the city.  I think it's a really good film.

<a href="http://www.vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=1104328&amp;amp;server=www.vimeo.com&amp;amp;show_title=1&amp;amp;show_byline=1&amp;amp;show_portrait=0&amp;amp;color=&amp;amp;fullscreen=1" target="_blank">http://www.vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=1104328&amp;amp;server=www.vimeo.com&amp;amp;show_title=1&amp;amp;show_byline=1&amp;amp;show_portrait=0&amp;amp;color=&amp;amp;fullscreen=1</a>

What I admire especially is how real and alive each of the characters seems to be, even though most of them have little screen time.  Even the most at-first-glance simple characters turn out to have more to them.  I think this is because you get the sense that each of them has their own stories going on, though the film doesn't focus on them.  All-too-often in some films, characters seem to exist at the convenience of the main plot.

Okay I've merged Esn's topic with this one, took the liberty of editing the posts. It's best to keep it all in one place.

"Mood" by Vladimir Samsonov, Ekran Studio 1982.

In the mid-1980s, this director made a series of short films that might almost be called "animated paintings"; little vignettes covering basic themes.  More akin to poems than stories. I'll post some more later.

"Miniatures 86" (1986), Vladimir Samsonov. The three parts are, in order:
"Balance", "Duel", "Hope".
The second part is my favourite. The third part is also great, but it's... devastating.
