Have you ever wanted to start a band? A genre-less band!? But no one you lived in a close proximity to played an instrument or was in fact too old? Well look no further!

I'm inspired by bands/ musical groups who are able to change their style/ mood, feel on every song they make.
This would be purely for pleasure and nothing else (let's see how it goes first)

...
Alright what I was thinking was forming an online band of sorts.
A genre-less band with multiple instruments/ people/ voices/ everything.

The band would consist of whoever(whomever?) would want to join. They wouldn't be required to stay (just for one song which would inevitably make them part of the band or musical group rather.)

They wouldn't necessarily need to play an instrument or sing to be in it. If they had a microphone of any sort (even low quality) they could have a part. Even without one there is always something you can do.

What I'm proposing is to make a band that would compose music of all sorts. Each song would consist of a different feel.  Each song would show different influence/style.

So for example one song could be ambient electronica and the next could be avant-garde hip hop the next an instrumental the next an all vocal song. Ranging anywhere from different combinations of any genre. It would essentially be limited only to the people in it.

The only rules are that each song would have to consist of a collaboration with at least two people (thus making it a collaboration).
That everyone is open to making different types of music.

There is no limit on how long a song is.

I suppose I would make a music myspace that everyone in this group would be able to go onto and put songs up.

So Whatdya think? If you could mention it to anyone on the forum who plays something or is familiar with music recording or anything of that sort.  Kiss

Edit:

Two songs I thought would be sweet to cover are 5/4 by Gorillaz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeOjE8cyaqU and Kicker of Elves by Guided By Voices.

Sounds cool enough. I study music technology atm and now when I still have free time, I could participate for practise.

I just need to know: What software do you use and what equipment do you have?

I'm using pro tools 7 and ableton live 8. I'm able to do midi (synths, samples and whatever) and drums (midi-programmed) mostly, my recording gear isn't thorough enough for anything else than singing.
