I just figured I would throw up a little thread to see what videos others have purchased from Conceptart.org to learn.

I currently have-
Whit brachnas environments 1
Andrew jones Thumbnails
Andrew jones Fine art series vol 1
Jason Manleys Compostion
Jason Chans Character design ... not the hero or the villan ones.

Just got 75 dollars for more so im currently downloading
Whit brachnas masks ... Althought I use masks alot Im hoping Ill learn 1 or two things. 3.75 with the sale.

I would love a ton of the streaming videos and personally I think there dumb ... Seriously dumb not to have just made the streamings into videos that people who dont have the cash can purchase later or for those who ccome along to the froums later in life can purchase. Does anyone elts feel that way?

I don’t have any yet, but I’m currently saving up to purchase:

donato giancola
"The Mechanic"

N8 Van Dyke
Ink Demonstration (<-- I want this more than the others.)

dan dos santos
Book cover illustration

Gregory Manchess
"Above the Timberline"

Beyond that I would have to agree; they’re simply missing an opportunity with the streaming videos.

sounds exclent you will have to tell me how all of those are. Maybe one day Ill be able to purchase the whole set and pass them around to friends who desire to learn but currently I will only purchase that which I feel can apply to me.

Certainly, it will be a while before I can afford them mind you.

Same here. I’m more serious about my traditional stuff (for now anyway) so I stick to what applies to me. Unfortunately that which applies to me, are some of the more expensive ones.

In my oppinion it's easier to break the rules once you know how they work, but to everyone his own I guess.

Well I dont think there is a right or wrong way. Ive always felt art is the same with anything ... a bunch of critiques trying to say what it needs to be to be sucessful. Yet never the less people arnt just sitting and researching and learning and thinking about these things for nothing. These people with these videos have done a great job of showing perspectives in the way they go about art or what they find inticeing and interesting about art. They have done a great job for me to learn to think about things differently so in that sense they are helping you understand something ... But what they are teaching you is not the right way. I mean 2,000 years in the future artist could look back and go hahahahahha those people went about art in this way what an off breed ... This also would not make them right or wrong. But that one guy combined did art in this way and it sparked a whole new revolution of art that traveld off this way. This is the beauty of infinity. But the chances of you affectivly starting a new wave of art revolution without studying and understanding what others are saying about how they view art the less chance your going to successfuly accomplish this. Just dont dismiss any view or perspective ever. If your not willing to learn and to see differently you will never progress.

The mechanic video look great too. Ive never finished a completed painting in oils ... well other then in high school but still it would be great to see a professional execute it!
