Henry’s Life

Newlyweds, Henry Spree and Lucy Spree, were happily enjoying their honeymoon strolling on the beaches of Miami, California. It was extremely obvious that they were totally in love with each other, and they enjoyed telling people that they were married.

One afternoon after a beautiful dinner at an expensive restaurant, the Spree’s were walking down the pathway leading towards the hotel hand in hand. All was lovely too them, even the rain that was starting too fall.
Henry opened out the umbrella that was hanging on his arm.

Suddenly two strange, dark figures came out of the gloom of a damp alleyway and approached the Spree’s.
One pulled out a gun; the other forced the newlywed’s into the dark alleyway. Two other shadowed men were waiting in the darkness.
“We don’t want any trouble!” Henry expressed with a concerning thought for his dear Lucy, who was clenching onto his sleeve.
“Shut Up! And hand over your money! NOW!” Ordered the dark figure holding the gun, pointing the barrel at the terrified Spree’s.
“Ok, ok, just don’t hurt my wife.” Henry gasped, fiddling furiously at his designer watch.
“Hurry Up!!!” Yelled the three dark figures standing in the middle of the alleyway.
“Ok…ok.” Henry gasped again, pulling out his wallet and surrendering it with Lucy’s delicate, velvet purse.
“The Jewelry Too!!!” Shouted the dark, terrifying figures.
Henry struggles too take off Lucy’s jeweled necklace and shining bracelets.
“Hurry Up!!” Ordered the shadowed man holding the gun; waving the powerful barrel at the Spree’s heads.
Panicking, Henry and Lucy throw the jewels onto the pooling, wet ground.

“There you have what you want. Please let us go, we won’t tell anyone, I promise.” Henry pleaded. Lucy hid behind Henry gasping for air.
“No! We don’t have every thing we want.” The men said peering at Lucy, with a grin that scared Henry.
“No, leave her alone!” Henry demanded, backing up down the alleyway with Lucy behind him.

The shadowed men circled around the frightened couple, grabbing Henry and throwing him onto the ground.
“Henry!!” Lucy screamed, being forcefully pushed to the wall.

     Henry started too stand up.

“Stay Down!!!” Yelled the man holding the gun; aiming it at Henry’s heart. Pulling back the trigger, Lucy darted towards Henry.

BANG!!!

“Lucy!!!!!” Henry yelled out; tears welting down his face.
“Lucy, please, no, Lucy.” Henry sobbed.
“I love you,” Lucy gasped with a tear trailing down her cheek.
“I love you too Lucy, please don’t leave me.” Henry sadly sobbed, looking into Lucy’s tearful eyes.
Henry burst into tears as he saw the love of his life; his dear Lucy’s eyes go cold and empty.

“Dude, What the hell?”
“Let’s get out of here!” The men panicked racing out of the alleyway.

Police sirens and flashing lights approached the tragic seen; three officers had to pry Henry from his dead love.

Henry waited impatiently in the corridor of the police station, salted tears falling into his cupped hands. Henry sat there on that bench in the lonely corridor and thought about his Lucy.
He stared madly at the floor until he heard footsteps approach him.       He glanced up at the smartly dressed officer with a balding spot and a finely polished badge.

“Mr. Spree, I’m so sorry for your loss.” The polite officer said, but Henry didn’t care about the formal apology he was too swept up in his sorrow and anger.
Henry stood up and walked out of the station without a word.

Three years passed. Henry spent everyday in the same pub drinking heavily until he gets sick and then drives himself to his dump of a hotel room. He would collapse onto the floor and pass out on top of the empty beer bottles and take away bags.
One day Henry awoke with his usual skull, breaking hangover and set off on his usual course to the pub. At the pub an unusual newcomer was waiting for Henry.

“Henry.” The man calls and walked over to Henry.
“Matt, what are you doing here?” Henry questioned his old friend.
“I’m here for you, your father called me he’s worried about you. He says that you haven’t contacted your family ever since Lu…”

“Shut up!!” Henry grabbed Matt’s collar and forcefully pushed him away.
“I’m here to help, Henry.” Matt pleaded to his friend.
“Get lost, I don’t need your help!” Henry shouted
“Okay, Henry I’ll go.” Matt walked away to his car and drove off out of sight.

Henry went back to his twelfth beer and sculled it down, this continued until Henry got thrown out of the pub for having an argument with a couple of men.
The men confronted Henry outside and hit Henry continuously until he passed out.
Later that night he was found by the barkeeper and was sent to the hospital with a broken nose, alcohol poisoning, two fractured ribs and a concussion.
Henry woke up in the hospital bed and felt sicker than has ever felt.

“Oh my, Mr. Spree I’ll get the doctor for you.” A woman’s voice said.

Henry tried to sit up but the bandages were too tight.

“Mr. Spree please don't try to sit up you've been in a fight and fractured you ribs, broke your nose and you have a concussion. Do remember what happened?” The doctor asked.

Henry answered with an angered yell. “Where's my wife!?”
“Err Mr. Spree your wife's dead, she died three years ago.” The doctor said in a concerned manner.

Henry burst into tears.
