Hi there!  I'm thinking of dabbling in some animation and making an animatic, and I was wondering if ya'll had any software recommendations.  I know there's flash, but that's out of my price range...  ^^;

Oh my goodness, this is AWESOME!  I'm having some fun playing with it, but it seems to randomly crash on me.   Huh?  (IE: Windows must close this program/report error? blah blah)

I've been thinking about what I'm trying/thinking of trying to do... maybe it's not so much an animatic as much as just switching and panning w/ some effects?? Hm... I guess that IS an animatic... so I want software that imports images, uses keyframes, has a zooming/panning camera, and maybe some effects.  It looks like this program does all that (minus the effects) but the image file type is limited to bitmaps.  Maybe I'm looking for editing software??

I'm really grateful that you shared this program with me, but do you or does anyone else know of a program that fits that description?  (Even if it isn't free?)  I know there's flash...

Well keyframes aside there is Power Point.
I just found this
http://www.powerproduction.com/index.html
and this
http://www.atomiclearning.com/storyboardpro

not so sure what either of them are capable of the atomic one is free.
hope maybe this helps.

You, sir, rock my face.   Grin Thanks! *examines software*

EDIT:  Hey,  I found another interesting free animation program - Creatoon.  You import your art then animate it with this, it looks like.  I'll check it out.  Tongue

if it's just animatics you're interested in making, you need to try ToonBoom Storyboard. Basically you storyboard directly into the software and you can then export the animatic as a movie file. It has a price tag but the PLE is free. Good luck!
