This is my first poem/story...

hope you like. (probably loads of spelling mistakes as it hasn't been through a spell check)

The Creature

By Chris Day

It started so quickly on that cold winters night,
the fire burned warmly and the light shone so bright.
The wood was so quiet as the birds sang no song,
no critter was rustling in the grass that was long.
The moon was just peeking from behind frost covered clouds,
when I heard a scream from the castle, the scream was so loud.
I reached for my knife when another one came,
this time from the sky but it sounded the same.
I looked up above me and a shiver crawled up my spine,
I turned and I ran through the forest of pine.

The screams didn't die out or fade into dust,
instead they got louder, keep running I must.
I entered a clearing, my cover was gone,
it was time for me to fight as I stood there alone.
I unsheethed my blade like I had done a thousand times before,
but it was torn away from me, like a tooth pulled by a door.
I remmember thinking 'This is it, my time has finally come,'
when I heard an all mighty BOOM, like an explosion from the sun.

We froze, then a huge spear head burst through its chest,
this battle was over, but no time to rest.
Where had it come from, this spear of blood spatterd gold?
Who was its owner? It had to be told.
There in the distance was a big gaping hole,
in the wall of the castle, my blood turned ice cold.
In front of the hole stood the biggest man ever,
a giant I thought, my muscals tought like tether.

I stood there in ore as he bounded my way,
then dived for the bushes and thats where I'd stay.
With one giant hand he picked up the creature,
then bit off its head, the only recognisable feature.
I started to back away and then SNAP!
A twig on the ground, there was no turning back.
The giant turned fast, sniffing at the air,
I wasn't waiting around, I ran out of there.

I cought sight of my knife inbedded in a tree,
I had just enough time to grab it and flee.
I ran through the forest and down broken tracks,
I ran through the fields with scattered hay stacks.
As night time surrendered and slowly became day,
with the sunrise in my face, I began to pray.
I prayed that this monster would leave me alone,
I turned on my heels and the giant was gone.
