USUAL FORUM RULES ARE IN ORDER

in short: be a nice guy or gal and you'll be fine  Azn

Here's some guidelines on how to register your nickname:

The first thing to do is registering your nickname when you are connected to the #bitey channel
You can do this by typing the following command in the lightIRC client:
/ns register password yourmailaddress

For example: "/ns register Biteyman92 ilikepotatoes42"

If you reconnect to the network, you must identify yourself to receive the owner status again.
You do this by typing: /id yourpassword

For example: "/id ilikepotatoes42"
Alternatively you can type /ns identify yourpassword, which is a more universal method.

Deliberately registering other people's nicknames will result in a permanent ip-ban from the irc server.
People that frequent the chat and show good spirit could be promoted to channel moderators.

So on the opening Nickname box to register all I have to do is type in /ns (Password) Halowood??
Because I did and got
Code:
[17:45:14] Running lightIRC - www.lightirc.com - Version 0.9.9.1
[17:45:15] Connection established. Please wait...
[17:45:15] (notice) irc.lightirc.com: *** Looking up your hostname...
[17:45:15] (notice) irc.lightirc.com: *** Found your hostname (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxxxx.xxxxxx.xxx.xx) -- cached
[17:45:16] Erroneous Nickname "/ns"
[17:45:26] Closing link: (lightIRC@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxxxx.xxxxxx.xxx.xx) [Registration timeout]
[17:45:31] Disconnected from server.

Admin edit: it's a good idea to remove your IP address before pasting this stuff.

No, It doesn't work with your forum account.
You need to enter Halowood and once in the chat you need to register yourself to the nickname server.

So Log in as Halowood and type "/ns register <yourpassword> [your-email]"

Never forget the slash when typing a command, or people will see your login info.
Therefore I recommend that you use a different password then your forum login.

Ah I thought it was a bit odd. Thanks.
Edit: Now I get this.
Code:
[20:12:07] Running lightIRC - www.lightirc.com - Version 0.9.9.1
[20:12:27] Security error! Make sure you have port 843 open (firewall). If you are the server administrator, read www.lightirc.com/faq.html#security for information. This is most likely a server problem. You tried to connect to lightirc.com:6667
[20:13:05] Disconnected from server.

Ouch, that's a bit beyond my capabilities. I'll ask around on the lightirc forums.

If you're behind a firewall try turning it off for a second if you can and try again.
Otherwise google for a proxy-server and try to see if that helps.

I think this should be a link on the front page or something, as soon as some one posts in the Brackenwood Mumble you cant even tell it exists any more.

yeah the curse of a pinned thread. Nobody reads em.
I've been in the chat a few times and it's a lonely place. A while back I wanted to embed AJAXchat (or whatever it's called) on the forum front page but the add-on setup seemed a bit complicated and I didn't want to risk messing something up. I'll look into it again, to see if there have been any updates.

heh just missed ya on the chat, I wish these chat things had a way of alerting you when some one logs on :C

Having it on the front page would certainly help a lot, or at least a way to see if some one is in the chat at the time.

You should jump in and keep it running in the background, so that when someone else enters they won't leave because there's no one on there.
Haven't been on much in the last days myself tough, shame on me  Undecided
