I love the personality of the robot. And the pseudo-3D effects were great as well, this was done in Flash, yeah?

The overall 'message' this animation sends (if there even is one) was over my head though. Still, very enjoyable movie.

actually it was done in maya Smiley real 3d.  but i made it look cartoony hehe.

modelled, rigged, animated, and rendered out in maya, composited in AE. that was it really. i put it on newgrounds too Smiley so i had to put the flv in flash and stuff.

and the overall message ..... kind of a metaphor for shit happens lol.     Azn

Oh Maya, I should have known...the cartoony effect fooled me, lol.

I love it. The way his little light on his head springs around when he moves is awesome.

Nice little film.

Why so low poly on the assets though... there is no point going to low, it doesnt even do that much for render times, its the amount of light bounces and calculations that matter, not polies.

aww chum i know. i just though the low poly would give it a bit more charm since limited animation was the style i was going for Smiley.

Just beautiful man. I love the 2D rendering and low poly style. The audio was very nicely done too. Congrats  Grin

I know that people say that, but if you are going to do that you might as well just use a game engine and machinima imo.

Low res assets isnt an attrative style like pixel art is. If you want blocky figures, do it withy more geo and bevel the edges so it catches light, ect.
Pokoyo is a really good example of a minimalistic style done with full res assets and limited animation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxu3jfqpItE

The main reason why im against low poly assets is it is a major hallmark of student animation, and you can oretty much tell its a student film straight away.

I like the tilting of the robot's head and the extended arm coiling out is a nice touch! I've done things with programs and techniques that could have been worked out faster and cleaner using other methods (I made an image years ago in Windows paint, even though I had access to Fractal Design  Huh?, just to see the end result); I have a stubborn habit of doing things just to see if it's possible, finding ways to use tools in ways they weren't necessarily intended. Grin The low rez works for it though, especially the rings on Saturn (I'm assuming); they remind me of the PS1 days...not that those were all that long ago...

...I may have to dig that out.

I do think the story could be polished more, but this piece has charm. I like it.

Some nice character. Smiley I like how it played out. Ever read The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince)? Some very similar ideas in there. While in the end the robot is surrounded by hundreds of flowers like his, only the one back on his home planet means anything, because he's made it mean something by caring for it.

I love the sound effects, too. Very fitting for the visual style.
