Over the past year and a half I've seen an influx of Mac OSX users sending spam or getting Ad popups on their computers.
It's annoying for me too as I have a lot of friends who use Mac and keep sending me spam messages. Both trough IM as emails - most seem to be originating from MSN.
Nowadays I just tell them to uninstall MSN and install another client such as Pidgin.
Historically Mac users seem to have had little issue with malware, but lately that trend seems to be turning and I was wondering if perhaps people here have experience with dealing with Malware on OSX. I've noticed it from Tiger to Snow Leopard.
I've also know of a girl with a rather persistant infection on her Macbook, which doesn't seem to be tied in to MSN.

So if anyone can help me out here I'dd greatly appreciate it  Grin

I have the same problem. In fact Adam contacted me telling me that I'm sending him weird spammy emails for which I apologized profusely. I don't want to loose the email but at the same time don't want to harass people. Any help would be swell as well.

Sadly, I have little experience on the OS X side of things, as there's never been much to worry about. I do know that there seems to be more mention of issues revolving around Safari. I also hear more cries for help from people that frequently message and email from their mobiles. I seem to function in a healthy state of paranoia, updating my system like a fiend. I fully agree with ditching MSN.

Maybe this link will help your friend if she hasn't updated in a while:

Sadly, anything connected with Micro$oft is always full of exploits Sad

Have you tried doing a virus scan with Clam AV? It's an open source on-demand virus scanner. There's also a front end for it for OSX, which you can find here: http://www.clamxav.com/
