Never fond of colouring inside the lines.

My name is Nikaleles and I have crawled out of the primordial ooze that is deviantART
do not go there it is a wretched place

And now I find myself stuck in the limbo somewhere between there and conceptart.org, so I thought I'd retreat to ye auld hidey-hole where I feel both visible and relatively safe. Certainly this is not the first time I have visited Brackenwood, as I once appeared here many years ago as a young, stupid girl who liked to draw and sucked at it. Now I am an old, stupid girl who likes to draw and sucks at it (if a bit less).

Before I post art there is something that you ought to KNOW:

While I have a great love for aliens, my current project is the crappily-named fantasy story, Tales from Faeron, which had the misfortune of being christened when I was twelve. The angry sonovabich in my avatar is one of the main characters and he is also my favourite due to his being three-dimensional and stuff. If you look in here you will probably see a lot of him and his pet dinosaur, likely until the point where you start to vomit all over your keyboard because you've just had enough. Consider yourself warned!

ON TO THE ART.
Open to critique as always! I'm not going to cut myself or spray saliva on you in a fit of internet rage or anything.
ok let's see what have I done lately...

Here is a mockup page I did to show what I wanted TFF to look like. It was going to be part of a short comic but I got really sad and started to cry so the rest never got done. It might, one day. Maybe. My work ethic is BRILLIANT.

YEEEAAAH TWINSET.

I made this today when I made up some new brushes and then I was all like YEEEAAAH SPEEDPAINT TIME and then I made this. I like monochromes by the way.

I hope I'm not so terrible that I can't rejoin the club!

... That would suck!

Can't think of any good opening sentence...

Liking the environments. You've got the mystical foggy forest down pretty well, and the effects are great. I like how you play with light, but you could do it a little more. The monochromes suit your purposes well. Maybe in later pics you could consider another color to highlight using some strong contrast.

The flat, cartoony style of the second pic works fine. Very bold, contrasting. Not a big fan of the hands. There's just something weird about them.

The only other thing I'd critique on the last pic is that there's something off with the legs. They look a bit too far bowed outward.

Out of curiosity, are all of the mysterious hooded figures the same guy? If so, I'm guessing that the third picture features the "pet dinosaur"...

Overall, though, very cool. Keep up the good work!

Thanks! I do sometimes like to throw a complimentary colour in there for highlights or whatever but sooometimes I don't. I am a fickle beast.

Aye, hands and I don't oft get along, and lizard man's are particularly annoying because he has funky lizard hands. I've been practicing and they are better than they once were, but I am still behind on my handnatomy.

I've established that due to his massively weird legs, he walks a bit bow-legged, but admittedly I don't like his legs in that picture either. I think I spent the most amount of time there, too, but being dumb, having like zero reference, and not having my amazingly talented friends around for help, I couldn't figure it out. And because I have the attention span of a fly I stopped bothering. DEERP

Yup! The grey guy is Endsver. He is grey because he lives in a fantasy story where some people are grey, and he has weird hands and legs because he was once an asshole who was cursed to be repulsive forever. The giant bird creature is Anzie, his road runner. I could explain them forever but that would take a year and no one wants to hear about it.

Overall, though, very cool. Keep up the good work!

:'D!
Cheers mate <3
