Wow - almost 18 months since I've posted on these boards. I have an old thread for this, but given the age of it I thought I'd start afresh.

I'm producing some manx-language cartoons to promote the language through the internet and social media. The one I'm working on now is episode three. The other two are available to view on youtube here:

I'm thinking of making the move to vimeo - it just seems to work better and look cleaner than youtube..

This scene is a flashback opener, and I've rendered it out as an image sequence. In the final scene the camera will track in (with the black outline).

Out of interest, I'm using Flash CS4 (all art and animation) Photoshop CS2 (some background art) VirtualDub (for collating the occasional image sequence) Adobe Audition (Audio edit and sync) Sony Vegas (All editing, compositing, transitional effects, video/audio integration) Adobe Media Encoder (occasional format changes).

I'm processing on a Dell XPS M1710 laptop (now 5 years old!) and drawing with a Wacom Intuos 3 6x11" pad.

Here's the next clip. Yes, the guys are mirrored (except for a few little changes). There's some additional elements to go on top of this - which will be done in the edit. Looks like you're invited to the party!

Running through the scenes containing on-screen dialogue now, adding lip-sync. Some are easy, literally just swapping out mouth shapes, others involve character animation going on at the same time. Nesting symbols is a life-saver here.

Luckily I picked up enough Manx language in beginners classes to know where I am in the dialogue - plus I have a script with both Manx and English - which helps.

Wow. Looks like this place really is dead. I've got a lot further with Manannan, and have a combined 2d/3d project started - but I won't be posting it here. Shame.
