Please change text color from light-blue to black. I can hardly see what I'm writing right now...

edit: hmm it looks good in the topic, but while writing it here, it is hardly visible...

For Adam if he chooses to modify this:

The class name for the text area element for posting is "editor"
Search for "editor" in the CSS files (or editor if the forum software has one).  It might be .editor { [...] }, or it might be something like textarea .editor { [...] }.  The "color" attribute changes font color.  If it doesn't have one, just put color: #000; in.  As it uses the same font color as the posts, the element tags are either missing the color attribute, or it has some variable junk after "color:" instead of the color data.

I know what he means. Where you type the text, rather than where it shows up, makes the text nearly invisible. Your suggestion to change the color using html code wont really help.

For one, it's Cascading Style Sheet code.  You guys are talking about the big white box you type in, right?  What I'm talking about is exactly how to fix it.

OOOOOOHhhh...... Sorry about that mate, I beleive I misinterpreted your explanation. After re-reading your post again, I understand what you're getting at. I think in the profile section you can change the colors of the site, but I don't know how to access the CSS files... could you perhaps go into further detail?

It's only something Adam (and any Admins that have forum-modifying privileges, though I'm pretty sure there aren't any) can change.  Members can only choose between different forum style sets that are installed on the forum by an Admin.

Ah. And I haven't checked yet, but from what I've seen from other simmilar forums, there are more visible (and colorful) admin-installed style sets.

I don't know what the problem is. I can see the text fine, and I think that the color fits the 'site...

it does, but before the font is officially on the site (in the "type text here" box) it blends with white and makes the text hard to read.

it has been difficult to find a halfway font that works well in the compose box AND in the post. When I first worked on the colours, it was the other way around.. the forum font was too dark but the compose font was fine... so it has been a process of trial and error to get it right. Anyway, thanks for the help Markham, I'll go looking for it now..
If I can't find a separate value for the compose box, then it may go unchanged because finding a colour that works with every monitor could be near impossible - and that's really what it comes down to: it's likely that the people who have trouble with the colours have a low contrast setting on their monitor. Those of us who think it's fine probably have a higher contrast setting. I wouldn't dream of asking everyone to change their contrast settings to suit the forum but that may be a temporary solution while I work on the colours.

* Edit - OK there it is. It's garish and ugly but I found it (thanks Markham!) and just made it black for now. Hopefully it won't clash with some other part of the forum that we don't yet know about.

I still prefer the blue... I mean, the black is just kinda harsh. And the rest of the forum colors blend so well together.

Actually, I have a better idea to try out.

Go to the CSS element you changed to make the text black.

Take out the color: #000; (or change it back to whatever it was before)
and insert in

background: #212F40;
border: 0;

That should make it fit better with the overall theme.

If you find the select element (the drop-down selector boxes) in the CSS, you can do the same for that as well.
