Well, I figure I might as well start a thread here. In this here thread I shall post my various musical compositions every so often. Whenever I finish them, which isn't so often, or more often the unfinished versions, which will be posted whenever. Whenever I'd like some feedback, that is, before I finish. But be that as it may, I will start off with an overview of what is already there for the listening. I hope you enjoy. Folk-music-like compositions: Little Tree Pond (2005; 4:06, played with live instruments) Down the River from Kievan Rus (2007; 3:50) Big serious piano music compositions: Hymn for Melody (2004; 5:05, my first-ever composition) Pyrrhic Punctuality (2008; 7:18) Compositions imitating the Baroque style; the era of Bach: Invention no. 1 (2007; 1:11) Sonata for Strings in C+ (2007; 2:09) Music featuring brass instruments: The Great Gallop (2006: 2:00) Tales from the Steelworks (2008; 4:00) Other: A Lively Duet (2006-10-18; 0:57) Of Hippos and Rainy Days (2008; 3:28, my latest composition) All of them were created using Finale Music.

All of it is awesome stuff! Am I allowed to chuck some ideas? Although truthfully, I don't see myself fit to do so.
My first one would be on the Little Tree Pond. I personally thing during the chorus a more deep echoey piano sound would go a bit more well than the short spurts. When I listened I saw the song like the story of a young knight, but he was fragile and fast. And that piano would make it allot more like the story of a Hero warrior. --Third listen through and I've changed my mind, I like it how it is ^^
My idea on the Down the River from Kievan Rus one would be a slight bass boost to the Harps and Marimba.(through mixing mediums, not playing) I could also imagine someone singing to it too.
I especially like Of Hippos and Rainy Days and If I was to make a movie with a custom soundtrack, I'd hire you! But I won't be insulted if you ignore my ideas, I have no background or knowledge of what "good" music is. I Only know what I like, and your stuff is very likable ^^

Thanks for the mini-reviews, H@m. Little Tree Pond was only my second composition. I never saw it as being possibly about a knight, but I do see it now that you mention it. The original concept was a river flowing from a quiet pond through various lands and villages. It's kinda odd... it takes a lot of effort to create music, but there are so many people doing it that its value seems to be quite low (sometimes I wonder if its actual value is in the negative digits; that I should rightfully be paying people because they took time out of their schedule to listen to it). Hopefully these concerns will go away after my skill level passes a certain threshold. But I'm not there yet... Or possibly I just need to find the right niche (a small group to work with/for and thereby not have the whole internet to compete with). Ignore me, I'm just babbling...

I'll just keep all my music-related stuff in one thread, I guess. I've recently uploaded to Youtube some audio from the York University Brass Ensemble concert which happened this past February (just 2 weeks back from a several month-long strike!), in which I play the tuba and euphonium: http://www.youtube.com/user/baldabrassI think "Stardust" came out the best: http://www.youtube.com/v/tGL3212x1ac&hl=en&fs=1If you're in Toronto, our final concert for this term will be on May 11, 2009, 12:30pm, in Tribute Communities Recital Hall at York University. Free admission. There's a Facebook event profile over here: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=97691299417

In the Belly of the BeastThis one's quite different because it was made in Reason by playing on a keyboard, a method I am not used to.

I like the last one, this would be perfect background music for a boss battle in a videogame.

Thanks Snowman. I'm not quite sure what you meant about the tuba part, though - the problem is not obvious to me... though it's possible that it sounds differently on your speakers/headphones than it does on mine... that's a constant headache. The Newgrounders don't seem to like it much, or rather, half do and half don't, which leads to a rating of 2.90. It could be too low-key, maybe? I wish the people rating it low would leave reviews.

I was assigned a project to write in a "popular music" style. I don't actually like listening to popular music, but I did my best... please tell me your thoughts: Take It Slow, Bro (2010)

First impression: OH MAN! ITS ASHLEYS SONG!Second impression: This would be good background music for museum-based platformer, such as the old tiny toon adventures game Third impression: Ouch! There has to be a better transition than dissonance at 2:22 Fourth impression: Oh man! Now it sounds even more like a cartoon game, except now they are running out of time! Overall, a nice background listen, except for the chords at 2:22. I've never been one for dissonance, even when intended to serve a purpose.
