ok we're done. Suggestions welcome as always, but after 3 full days of brain-hurt, I'm over it for the time being Tongue
I'll be adding some more Brackenwoody type stuff eventually and replacing the button graphics in days/weeks to come.

Loving the new design.

It will take a while to get used to but once I have have, I'm sure I will have forgotten what the old version looked like.

One issue is that ithe text colour isn't contrasted enough against the forum background. Each reply alternates in colour, and the text is awkward to read on the "even" posts.

The first post background colour is darker but still kinda awkward to read the text. The following 2nd, 4th 6th posts etc have a lighter background (#7A88A3) so the light text is harder to read. (Actually this post is posted on the lighter background that I am talking about)

All in all I think its looks rather spiffing. Smiley

I also love the karma rating. SMITE ME OH MIGHTY SMITER!

good call. I was wondering what you guys thought of that, so I'll have a look through the CSS and make some adjustments

I agree that the text might not be contrasting enough. Altough I can read it perfectly, and I like that's it's easy on the eyes.

well I increased the contrast just slightly.. I like the idea that it's easy on the eyes, but yeah it needs to be readable.
Is it better now?

I think you should use if possible a nice green or bright blue for new posts, news headlines or anything hot off the press. One thing that comes to mind is making your buttons or attractions look or at least have a nice wet 3 tone cell shading to them. Like the way you do your characters eyes Adam. I can't really explain it well nor am I aware of how far you can go with customizing the skin of this forum, but I think you should make the theme more organic looking. Maybe some of those fancy vines to scroll along with the thread window!

Ya dig?  fffangry

[EDIT] I really like the night shades of blue and the gradient at the top. I'm just talking about putting a few window boxes around for that beaming moon energy!  Auld Sage [/EDIT]

I still think it could be better.

Its not legible at a quick glance. I would mabye push the darkness of the background. Or make the topic titles and author titles the colour that the text is now, and make the text lighter.

Maybe my eyeballs are too lazy.

Edit:

Yeah I like the idea of making everything more organic looking but obviously that'll take a lot of time.
The effect Chris means, is that glossy glass affect, almost Mac-like.

Anyway, another setting I am not used to, (not sure if its a hinderance or not), is that when I post a reply it redirects me back to the current forum index section, rahter than to the topic I posted in. I think I would prefer to be redirected to the topic I was posting in, cuz I tend to check for typos not when I am typingm but after.

But again thats just me. If no one else finds it strange, then ignore me Tongue Sorry.
