Learning sarus should start with the beginner lessons found here: http://www.biteycastle.com/525/01_intro.html
all the one, two, and three letter words. These will allow you to communicate with other sarus speakers pretty well (although i myself have only learned like 30 words)
The four syllable words should be learned only AFTER the three letter words, As these consist of about 2400 words. Note however, that almost 400 of them are plural words, so its really only 2000 words.
It is recommended that you learn Septaglyphs as they are easy to remember.
An effective way to remember Sarus words you have already learned, is to use it in everyday talk.
I will try to add on to this, and others are welcome to suggest things i havn't already pointed out.

I think I'll stick to the creator of the language for tips...

Use it in everyday talk?  I don't see how thats going to happen.

that was my bad. I worded it weirdly. What I mean, is maybe if you have a friend who is speaking Sarus, use some of the words that you just learned when talking to them in Sarus. You could also do this with people on the forum, when the Sarus forum opens.

Well, learning Sarus is similar to learning other languages, so tips for learning other languages could also apply here. Also, Sarus is actually easier to learn than others in a special way: it is based off of English. Also, no offense to Chluaid, but he is not the real creator of the language, but more like a reviver. Sarus is heavily based off of Solresol (however Chluaid did an excellent job of improving the language and creating a completely new dictionary), which was created by a French person.

Fair enough.  Did you learn about Solresol before you found the forums? Just curious.

Hm, this is mostly an suggestion for Adam.

Having a topic named "Sarus" and make it a sticky would be better than a whole forum. Considering the lack of interest (I doubt it's enough interest for the language to have a forum for it). Just putting the suggestion out there.

I didn't revive Solresol.. I created Sarus. You wouldn't say the inventor of the motorbike was the "reviver" of the bicycle.
I've taken a number of concepts from Solresol - namely the big one of using 7 syllables for the entire language and one or two lesser concepts - but Sarus is more complete, more practical, easier to learn and has many of my own concepts built into it (septaglyphs, pronunciation, numbers). There are now far more Sarus resources readily available than Solresol. That's because I pretty much built Sarus from the ground up, with foundations in Solresol. So yeah, while I give credit to Jean Francios Sudré for the original concept, Sarus is all mine Wink

True, it is a whole new language, especially the septaglyphs, but some parts are very similar, as you just said. The "reviving" analogy was bad, but i didn't know how else to put it.

Don't use flashcards. Teachers (at least at my school) say they're great, but thats only because you remember stuff really well, but if you see it not on a flashcard, or stop using the flashcards, you don't remember anything.
I might just have a weird mind, though.

I've found that to be true too.. Flashcards seem to be great for short-term "surface" memory but they don't drum it in at all.

Yep, I think flash-cards are pointless too. An idea to learn sarus is to get a study buddy to learn with you, and then learn it together. Much easier, but everybody gives me a look that says: "You're naive" and so, I don't have a study buddy =( All the study buddies i had thought learning Sarus was too hard.
