Fbf, but tweening certainly can add a special something when used.

tweening is certainly making its stand in modern television so I have to give it some cred.. however I'm a hand drawn frame by framer!... although I actually enjoy making 3d models too!.

A mix, using each wherever it's appropriate.

FBF
All the cartoons I see nowadays are tweened (most of them anyhow). They're done relatively fast and with a small budget. It makes commercial animation a much more streamlined process that spews out garbage at an alarming rate. I think animation needs to be brought back somehow. The original animators that developed all the great techniques (timing, weight, squash/stretch) laid out the groundwork for an amazing medium. What they failed to do was establish animation as a solid art form. The reason for this is because photography and film had already taken over the role of recording time. Painting was no longer required, but it has such a rich history that it will always carry on. Animation started with cute little animals singing and dancing. There was no need for animation to record life and events. Film and photography are much easier. Hopefully animation will make a comeback and shine as an unmistakable art form rather than a business decision.

I think All of Adam's animations are frame by frame...... at least i think so anyway They are for the most part. He uses some clever tweening where you can't even notice. I was talking about garbage like this.

I haven't animated in a while but I prefer fbf. Both are good though.

MOTION TWEENING MAKES ME LIMP!!! The art of fbf must be mastered before motion tweening can be used seamlessly.... Motion tweening is the short cut that one can't understand until one learns how it would work in fbf... Because if you know what would happen in each individual frame of movement then you can tell if it will look correct in the tween.
I have come to LOATHE modern cartooning... Sorry, that's degrading the word cartooning. These modern "cartoons", and I use the term loosely, did to animation what Thomas Kinkade did to painting.

I use whatever is more suitable for the particular task at hand, as long as it doesn't sacrifice quality. If I can use motion or shape tweening to save me several hours work, while maintaining the quality, I'm all over it! I cannot fbf. I need a tablet for that, right now I'm using Motion Tweens.
You don't need a tablet to do frame-by-frame animation.. just check chapter 2 A tablet does make life easier for a frame-by-framer but it's not vital if you know Flash well.
