Hi guys, i've got a question, which you could help me.
Do you know anything abut status of Macromedia Flash 5?
Is it now abandonware or something?
newest programs are too expensive for me, so i looked in web for Flash 5 price, but didn't found anything.
1. Not any shop sells that old software  Wink
2. It is Abandon/freeware now
This version is quite old, so it could be abandonware now. Know something abut it?
p.s. sorry for my language, I'm from Poland  Grin

I don't think expensive profesional programs turn into abandonware from one day to the other. I don't know if it's still bieng sold, and if the prices have dropped. Usually companies only sell their latest programs.

thanks, but its really old software (dont know, maybe even 9-10 years) in that long time nobody would buy this thing when could buy Flash CS or just MX. But, I think that the best thing i can do with this question is to give it to the Macromedia (now adobe?) they should know Wink

Flash 5 isn't that old (I was using it back in 2003), and even if it was, that is hardly "old" in copyright terms.  As the Flash line is still running, it's hardly "abandonware."  You can't legally download the program for free, but if someone's got an old Flash 5 CD and are willing to give/sell it to you, that's perfectly legal.  I started with a copy of Flash MX that I got off eBay when MX 2004 was out.

I was thinking the same thing sorta just now, I was looking for a copy of flash 8 to purchase. One place I found was a site which sold the software as an OEM which means it only included the cd and not anything else like the box or the manual which suits me fine.. it cost something like $69 which I'm a little sceptical about really, also I dont believe you can use it legally to create published work as I dont think its a commercial licence of the product.

old thread, woO0o!
You can get older versions of Flash on eBay and in bargain bins for really low prices, so I don't think $69 Flash 8 is anything to be sceptical about, even for a full commercial license. I wouldn't pay more than $10 for Flash 7, but Flash 8 is where all the good stuff started for animators (filters, enhanced gradients, custom ease, etc). At $69, I say grab it!
