Do anybody know this great punk/folk band from ireland? They're ideal hybride of punk rock and celtic folk music that i've ever heard of. You guys must check them out : ) really.
songs "Spicy McHaggis Jig" and "barroom hero" jus stole my brain ; )

Funny you should mention them! I discovered this band not so long ago at a party thrown by a friend of mine.
I only know one song though: "I'm shipping up to Boston".

I kinda like it. But that's mostly because I like the celtic genre in overall.
I also believe the punk/rock part doesn't kill the spirit of celtic music, so it's a good band to listen from time to time.

I love those guys. I have a few of their albums. They're actually American and started in Boston, Massachusetts (very Irish city).

No joke. My friend was in Dublin for a few days before St Patrick's day last year, and saw billboards advertising a radio contest where the winner would get a free trip to Boston for St Patrick's day. Ridiculous!

I don't think they need to constantly be compared to each other. Flogging Molly is more folky while Dropkick is more punk. They both make great music in their own way.

lol

My girlfriend's home town held a community raffle recently and the top prize was 2 tickets to go to San Francisco for St Patrick's Day.

I would love to celebrate St Patrick's day in America. You guys do it right lol. Over here St Patrick's day is just another excuse to get absolute shitfaced drunk. I love it. There are few street parades and stuff but nothing overly elaborate like in America.
The weather in Ireland doesn't really permit elaborate celebrations, and because it rains all the fking time people are confined to pubs on this day lol.
Don;t get me wrong we celebrate it with as much spirit as you guys but a different kind of 'spirit' lol...like vodka and whiskey.

It's funny that a lot of Americans are more patrioticly Irish than Irish people are. But I think that's why I would love to party on St Patrick's day in America. I'm not overly patriotic over here, but when I am in America I feel super patriotic and proud to be Irish because a lot of people show a lot of respect and interest if you are.
