...since my last one is locked in a different forum. Anyhow, for those who don't know, I'm a student trying to get in the animation program at BYU. I've done animation as a hobby since 2003, but I didn't really have any idea of where I wanted to go with it until late 2004 when I happened to post an animation on Newgrounds the same day that Adam Phillips uploaded Prowlies at the River. Now I am in a never-ending quest to stop sucking and get better at drawing.

Thanks, though I think I'll leave out most of the older stuff. I already put what I thought were the best ones from that thread into this one.

Another week, another sketch...es. This week they got some guy who was 6'10". I learned that suits are fun to draw and that, out of all the props at this place, they really need to get a Tommy-gun.

I'm not one for reasonable critique, but I think they're all adorable. Digging the resting man and the antler-lady especially. Got to love horns.

Too tired to say much. I'm back in school again, taking two different figure drawing classes among other things (15 credit hours in all...) Here are some gesture drawings: Here are some figure drawings:

Sweet stuff, you're on the right track. On the second one of the last stuff the hands/feet and head are really tiny. Some of the legs and arms lack some form to them because the shading and linework is a little too generalized (meaning that they lack some nuances). But that will get better with practice.
Also when you're shading try to give a more loose and powerfull impression. Right now it lacks some punch, kind of like a kid would colour in a colouringbook. Maybe you could use a softer material, like a 5/7B pencil or some caran d'ache. (I can't really tell what you're using tough, the quality of that pics isn't that great). What helped me allot is to look at old pen and ink drawings, they have great sensibility in showing of the form by following contours and trough crosshatching. When I have model drawing at school we often do exercises (5-10 mins) where we try to use as little contour as possible and try to build the model out of light and shadow. They do that just to get us out of that colouringbook kind of shading.

This one spanned two different class days. The first day I got the torso, legs, and right arm down. The second day he wasn't in the same position, which threw almost everything off. Mostly I finished the arm, did the shading, and attempted to put in a head which I gave up on and went back to shading. I've been trying to focus on shadow shapes more, which has helped some despite the roughness of the pad I was using. The lectures on the upper and lower leg musculature helped as well.

I don't remember if I've shown any of you guys this, but here's a background I did a little over a year ago: Here's a link if it doesn't show up. I made a few major changes to my website, and I don't remember if I need to change any other settings. [edit] Fixed. I had forgotten to update the .htaccess settings when the Brackenwood forums moved.
