My kangaroo broke down

« on: June 26, 2008, 11:54:27 PM »

Things have been rather slow lately on the personal art side of things for me, but still I get some things done. And so without copying everything over from my old sketchbook, I'll put this new WIP that I've been doing today up to start this thing off Smiley

Comments and Crits very welcome Smiley

very nice. What program?
Do you make the textures yourself, or are they some of the built-in textures/materials?

I use 3ds Max 9 mostly, though it kills my computer Tongue
I make some textures in photoshop, like the wall and rug in this pic, and others just come with Max, but I usually change them around a bit.

Another update....getting the backyard to look right in this is a pain:

You're rocking the 3D, going to develop houses with this ever improving skill of yours?

Thanks Laura Cheesy Uh, I dunno what Im going to do with it, hopefully take the diploma course at AIE over the next 2 years and figure out where I go from there. Apparently gaming is the biggest growing industry in Australia, so either that or film I'll go into.

Copied from the animation section:
Recently I've been attending a course to get my Cert II in 3d animation that is ran at my school by the AIE (Academy of Interactive Entertainment).
Today was the last day, and for the last week, 9 to 5 we worked in two groups to do our final animations.

Watch and comment if you wish HERE

Our group did a Robot Western, and we worked quicker than I thought we would, finishing most of our work after just 2 days. The rest of the days our 5 man group spent rendering and doing special effects like putting in Depth of Field, which take a lot longer to render.

Also, an animation I did for my IT class: Click Here

So I kinda gave up on the room I was working on since I went to my other house for a week and lost interest, it ended up like this:

I got inspired by the show Grand Designs to do another, I modeled the entire house, but began to lose interest when it came to texturing, so I'm just working on one room and will be rendering only this room. It looks like this so far:

I watched my bro play through Metal Gear Solid 4 over the past few days, such a good story line, it inspired me to test making mechs in 3ds max. Here was relatively quick test on making the legs work with bone systems.

Sketched a little more recently, I'd really like some crits before I go too far with this piece, but this picture at the moment mightn't be enough to go on for any :S

If anyone can see anything possibly wrong/any suggestions at this point, it would be greatly appreciated Cheesy

the rest is cool, the neck is a bit long though

Thanks man, I've been a little annoyed with the legs, lucky I kept this as a sketch so far Tongue

I had an idea for a flash but had a nagging in the back of my head to do a mock promotional poster for it first... I have no idea why, but here it is:
