The Mafia Signup thread

Many of you will have already played this, it's also known as assasin.

First i'm going to explain how the game works then i'm going to ask for a number of players to sign up.

Gameplay:
I will give each of the players a role via PM. You will either be a Mafia or a townsfolk.
The Mafia will know who eachother is, but none of the townsfolk know who the mafia is.
There are 2 stages, Day and Night

Day
During the day any townsperson can accuse anyone one else of being the mafia. Basically someone makes an accusation and someone else seconds it. I will call on everyone to vote on the first successful accusation. The accused may also defend themselves after i say so.
Eg:
Bob accuses Jerry
Mary seconds it
I will allow the accused to make a statement
Jerry gets to defend himself
A vote on Jerry's life is taken by everyone, majority rules.
The day ends when someone dies.

Night
When the day is over I will say that it is night. During the night the Mafia send me a PM saying who they would like to kill. Again it is a majority vote, however the mafia can communicate with eachother PRIVATELY on who they want to kill.
During the night phase you can all chat in the forum until i announce the new day... and someone will have died!   

How to win?
The townsfolk win when all the mafia are dead. The mafia win when they become the majority of the town (They start off at about 30% of the population)
So if 9 people are playing, there will be 3 mafia. It is the mafias job to lie and decieve people in the public forum into believing that other people are the mafia.

Example
There are 9 people playing, 3 mafia.
During the night the mafia elect to kill 1 person.
There are now 8 people playing with 3 mafia.
During the day a vote is called on one of the townspeople.
Everyone agrees that that person is the mafia.
That person is executed.
The vote was accurate, there are now 2 mafia in a town of 7 people.
And the game goes on like that with me narrating all the events with elaborate stories.

To play simply place your name in this thread. You need to make up an Occupation for yourself to make the game extra fun.
Feel free to ask any questions, I need 9 people to start the game and you will all be given your roles via PM.

Awesome, I know the game sounds a little complicated but it does work, and is quite easy after the first round. It's worked on other forums

Oh btw, to make it interesting you need to make up an occupation and a little description of yourself to give other players something to go off.

I'll make a start with the occupations as an Example,
I'm Lockzor and in game I am the Narrator. I will direct you and alert you to new events, I cannot die, nor can I influence the death of anyone else. I simply tell it like it is in a creative and interesting manner.

Pbird also raised a good question about when is the game set.

For this one I'm going to say that the time period is the modern day, but the town is quite old and has a lot of elements from the 30's onwards. So anything from that period to now would not be out of place.
If this game is sucessful then future versions can have a theme (there are also more roles to be introduced if this test run goes well)

I am the local apothecary. My shop, or very tiny hospital if you will, is just next door to the town's botanist lab which has been closed down due to suspicion of mafia activity, the building now stands without anyone bothering to rid it of its herbs and medicinal plants.  My job calls for daily interaction with the local injured and ill. I also know quite a lot about chemicals, animal toxins or poisons. I run the shop alone because my job became too demanding of me for any spouse to bear, but now that more people are disappearing and no longer needing treatment, because of the mafia, I have been put into an odd position of a less intense demand of work. The village is so old and small that it cannot afford a real hospital so it's up to me to deal with any sufferings of the townspeople, most of which, is caused by the mafia.

I be the 23 year old shop keeper of the General store. It was handed down to me by my father on my 21st when he got to lazy to do anything. Making a decent profit I have lived comfortably but with the late dissapearance of people with rumours of a Mafia there has been a slow decrease in customers. I am a joker and a smart ass at times often letting things slip my toungue at the wrong time. I occasionally receive help from my cousins. Also I occasionally do things to piss people off.

easy enough. I'm the towns local hobo. I lived in many great town alleyways, but have settled down here in the alleyway between the botanist and the Apothecary. My house consists of a bunch of tin cans nailed/stabled to a bunch of plywood in the corner. various liquor bottles litter the area, some full, others partially full. I wear a torn greenish-brown coat and torn brown pants. i have an excessive amount of hair on my face so it appears that my face is a beard. further reinforcing this the paper bag i wear on my head. I have a broken bottle for self defense. oddly enough I tend to gather enough money to be able to scrape enough money together for a sketch pad and paper and, more often than not, can be found sitting on a bench sketching things that come to mind.

It's moving a little slower than i expected but we should be able to get the remaining players soon. If you guys know of anyone else who is into forum games who hasnt posted yet then feel free to let them know.
