Actually haven't been able to touch it since I last posted. Sad

I've been running ragged at the studio and the freelance on top makes free time a fantasy. Tongue

Ahhhhaaaah! I have like 1,000 brushes. I dont really have a set group of brushes other then the one i use alot that looks like this   /   ... yeah thats right the angled brush. Otherwise i always just eperiment and try and make a brush interpert what im trying to make. Its probably a bad plan cous learning one brush really well would probably do you a whole lot more then making a new one for something.

My basic brush is theory is that no matter how diverse your brush collection is, you'll always have, what I call, "Work Horses". These are those brushes that are versatile enough for heavy rendering of any sort of object and the one's you use for the majority of the piece. Your Work Horse may change from piece to piece, but each piece has one.

Then there are "Texture Brushes", which is pretty self-explanatory. These are more specialized then Work Horses, but still have a wide application. I use these sorts for getting a quick texture going or to "dirty up" a piece.

Finally, the "FX Brushes" are the most specialized. I generally make 1 or 2 of these any time I'm working on a "big piece". An example would be a tree or leaf brush.

One has to be careful though not to lean too heavily on lots of FX Brushes. Many people act like they can "just make a brush to do it" but the best artists, IMHO, typically use very few because they get better results rendering it themselves. Leaf brushes work great for trees in the distance, but if that's all you use, the piece looks too generic and random. It's important (depending on your style) to get that "hand drawn" look throughout the piece and PS scatter brushes don't cut it.

That's a lot of cool drawings. Thanks for putting the different layers of some of the projects up too. I can really tell how they were developed that way.
