Wanking

For those of you musicians and non-musicians that do not know what wanking is, it's defined as noodling around with no real purpose other than to make an instrument speak in an impromptu unpredictable type fashion.

I recently invested in some synth access gear for my guitar and I have to say that I'm quite pleased with the possibilities. More so, I've decided to play out live again but only with my myself and a couple of other pieces of gear that I do not dare to discuss due to an agreement that I've made to myself not to spill the beans before they bake..... so to speak.

All I can say is that I think it'll be quite spectacular as it pushes the envelope into a cross medium that will go over well with an audience.... I hope 

Anyways, check me out in action as I do a drum solo using my guitar.

The Idea is to utilize voicings not yet heard or seen by the standard guitar player and map them across the fret board in a performance set up.

in the meantime, yeah to Brits and Aussies "wanking" is a very common term that means something completely different. If I were you, I wouldn't use it at all when talking about yourself to your English or Australian friends

The term does kind of mean that...

When I worked at Guitar Center, we use to call people that when they hung out there all day playing instruments and being totally obnoxious.

My god now that I think of it, I think I may have released some musical smut.

nah it's OK.. my connection hasn't been the best lately. I usually download rather than stream Quicktime if I can anyways, so no biggie.
Download got interrupted last night too, so I've restarted it now. Only 6 min to go

this is how I did it,

Take the url of the youtube link,

eg "http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=D2kJZOfq7zk"   then select the /watch?v= and replace with /v/

so now you have "http://uk.youtube.com/v/D2kJZOfq7zk" press enter and you'll end up with a very long url and the video filling the whole web page.

now your url looks like this  "http://uk.youtube.com/swf/l.swf?swf=http%3A//s.ytimg.com/yt/swf/cps-vfl62967.swf&video_id=D2kJZOfq7zk&rel=1&showsearch=1&eurl=&iurl=http%3A//i1.ytimg.com/vi/D2kJZOfq7zk/hqdefault.jpg&sk=G_GrA6wq5Sva_T5ETNWSB6eZbUmx673aC&use_get_video_info=1&load_modules=1"


Copy that url into the flash tages <a href="http://" target="_blank">http://</a> with a resolution of 425,344 instead of 200,200 and the video should appear in the screen.

this is the example I used at 200x200

I just grab the embed link from YouTube, copy the url that's in the <embed src " "> tags, stick it in [flash] tags and change the dimensions 
should look like this:

Well I live in Utah and I saw the thread title and was like, WTF? That term is pretty common here too. And it does mean the same thing as in the UK.

I understood what the term meant and im an Aussie. I always thought of wanking as the sort of stuff Steve Vai does where he just runs his hand over the frettboard making ridiculous noises then diving the whammy bar every now and then.
Awesome drum solo too by the way.

I've seriously been considering buying one of those synth pickup thingies or having a midi pickup installed in my guitar. The one thing i've always been trying to do is to make a diverse range of synth sounds out of my guitar. I got an Ebow which has helped makequite a few different sounds.
Once I can muster up the cash and justifiably spend it on more gear, i'm going to invest in a Digitech whammy pedal
