Hi
I am sitting here and trying to decide which Flash version I should put my faith in. I have had bad experience with Flash 8 on my Vista 64 machine, causing random crashes and file corrupts. I am thinking CS3 vs CS4. CS3's interface seems more annoying to me than CS4, but I read that the plugins are usable in CS3. CS4 seems cool in other ways, but it can't use the old extensions.
Any tips are welcome.

If I had the choice between the two I'd go for cs3.. I've had several problems with cs4 so far.

well, because I use my tablet to animate things frame by frame I set the buttons on the side to f5 and f7 and I also have 2 other buttons for moving forward and backward a frame. In cs3 I can add frames where ever the time line is at, making adding frames where I want very easy. However, in cs4 it will only add a frame where the highlighted frame is so to add blank key frames where you want them you have to click on the time line and then press f7. It gets annoying if you want to add in-betweens to all the frames in your animation because you keep having to click the time line and press f7. In cs3 it was just f7 "." f7 "." f7 "." f7 "." ("." is move 1 frame forward).
Another annoying factor is the layout, The properties window is now on the side which means you have to arrange it so you can fit the scenes window so it doesn’t cover the filters tab. It also loads files much slower then cs3 will and for some reason ( for me at least) it wont export AVI files, it just crashes.
I also found a way to mess up cs4 really badly, If you import an image and scale it, then realise threes an error in the image. So you make a correction to the image and because you scaled it you don’t want to have to re scale it, so you go to the Library tab and select the image in the list. Then you decide to click import to replace the file and if you select another window while doing that it seems to disable the mouse. kinda weird.

ok what about the blinding white interface - it does not annoy you at all? Because it pisses me off completely. I use TAB to hide/show panels and when I have finished making something rather dark in color and press TAB, I get a good dose of nuclear explosion blinding - it is sooo annoying, and the only thing that keeps me from using Adobes versions of Flash. I am even considering to install Win XP on my Vista machine to be able to use Flash 8 or 6 again without any crashes

well i'm originally still using flash mx 2004, but i downloaded the trial for CS4 and CS3, i don't see much point in going and buying CS4. it does have a few new features. the bones tool i thaught would be the best part of it, it was cool but seems more of a pain, grabbing it and moving it when it flips around more than you want it too.
personally i would probably just buy CS3, doesn't seem worth it to buy CS4 just for a little bit of features.

i only have pro 8 at the moment but ive been meaning to move to cs3. However i havent got round to it yet.

CS3 all the way.
I've haven't used CS4 yet[been using since Flash 5] but from what I hear, CS3 is the safest bet.

Personally, I've been using MX 2004, but I was planning on getting cs4, I wasn't aware of any problems with it. Out of curiosity, doesnt it do exactly the same as cs3, but with added features?  |

yes it does but the interface is unstable and Flash crashes frequently for seemingly harmless little things. However a patch is due for release soon. I'm on the beta and it has fixed all the big instability issues and even some of my personal gripes.
