The way I've memorised Sarus vocabulary over the years is by learning around 1-3 words per day.
Here's what I do each day:

  • First I write the word and its definition
    Abandon - tdr

    and a few similar meanings if necessary
    - forsake, desert, leave sth to its own devices.
.

  • Then I write the pronunciation and say it a few times (emphasis underlined)
    pron. (tidur).
.

  • Next, I try to think of english words that have those Sarus letters (in this case 'tdr').
    tidier, tudor.
.

  • Now I can organise these words into a sentence along with the definition, being very careful not to clutter the sentence with other words:
    "Abandon the tudor"

    The above is a short sentence that you can repeat and visualise to yourself many times throughout the day.
.

  • Perhaps, as an added exercise, you can think of a popular phrase that uses the word of the day, but substitute it with the Sarus word. For example:

    instead of "Abandon ship!"
    you would say "Tidur ship!"

    instead of "Abandon hope all ye who enter"
    you would say "Tidur hope all ye who enter"
    This helps you associate the word with the thought in your head, rather than just the letters in front of your eyes

  • Remember this golden rule of Sarus: A two or three-syllable word backwards is usually the opposite, or a closely related word.
    Therefore, if you learn one word, it's highly likely that you've actually learned two:

    Tidur = Abandon
    Redit = Help

What I used to do was every day I would write a word in sarus on my arm, so I would see it all the time. It sort of worked.

I am still so fascinated by this language that I've been studying it and really want to learn how to use it so I can put secrets in my tribute Brackenwood animations.  Bitey

hey Chluaid.  I've been working on my septaglyph skills and I decided to practice by translating the ones in your signature.  I got "Call from the black things", Is that right?
